The Early Onset Millennial Nostalgia

Angelo Franco

Will these remakes continue to feel like repackaged nostalgia? Almost certainly, and that’s the point. They’re meant to be consumed as nostalgia, and because that works so well with the current base of Millennial consumers, they will be successful. The Y2K bug is still going strong now, and there’s no end point in sight, because of the sheer amount of content that is now being produced and repurposed and that will, eventually but inevitably, be remade for a nostalgic audience.

Examining Digital Media Habits in 2022

Despite the sizable content budgets of streaming video on demand (SVOD) services, consumers are growing more frustrated with SVOD content discovery and subscription fees. SVOD services often require consumers to juggle multiple subscriptions at increasing costs. But on social media platforms, content discovers the user, offering free passive and interactive experiences with near-infinite streams of personalized content that are continuously refined.

Caught in a Bad Romance: How Millennials Navigate Mental Health Issues in Relationships

Caitlin Cohen

Aurora ended up getting diagnosed for ADHD and starting seeing a therapist. This changed her perspective dramatically. She started recognizing when her feelings or actions were symptoms of depression or ADHD, helping her to stop negative thought spirals and taking healthier actions to feel better. As a result, she became better at communicating with her boyfriend in ways that didn’t project. “[Getting diagnosed and being in therapy] made it a lot easier to recognize when I didn’t talk. It made it easier to be able to tell my boyfriend, ‘I love you but I’m not feeling that well today,’ in order to have the space to process and overcome those feelings by myself,” said Aurora.

In Defense of Modern Romance

A study by Match.com puts the yearly cost of dating at about $1,596, which averages out to a nice and affordable $30 date each week. Cut down on your afternoon iced caramel macchiato and you’re all set to get your dating groove going. But that’s pocket change compared to what singles are spending in large cities to go on dates. According to statistics released by Deutsche Bank, a cheap date in New York City will cost your wallet the criminal amount of almost $135 for the both of you.

Where Slang Words Go to Die: The Dictionary

Russel Morse

Now hella has gone where slang words go to die: The Merriam-Webster Dictionary. I admire Webster for having the courage to change the spelling of colour to color all those years ago in an attempt to create an American vernacular, but plucking an obscure Northern California slang modifier from the internet (along with TMI and FOMO) and putting it in the dictionary (what even is a dictionary anymore?) is only chasing it to the grave.

Why Millennials Should Vote for Hillary Clinton

Hasan Zillur Rahim

Millennials, between the ages of 18-35 and numbering about 76 million, are a powerful voting bloc. But many are still trying to come to grips with the trauma of a Sanders-less presidential election and are thinking of wasting their vote as a protest of some sort. That would be a colossal mistake, for they can play a critical role in propelling Hillary Clinton to victory over Donald Trump in this most consequential of elections.

Millennials and the End of Spanglish

Louis E.V. Nevaer

The fading of Spanglish, not unlike Ebonics, could be a response to two separate trends we have seen over the last decade: terrorism and gender-empowerment. Spanglish flourished in the 1980s and 1990s. Two factors fueled its rise. The first was the economic collapse of Latin America -- an international debt crisis precipitated when Mexico was forced to devalue the peso in August 1982.
